Is sewer cleaning enough, or do I need a permanent repair?

Cleaning removes obstructions but does not repair a broken, displaced, or sagging pipe. It may be an appropriate maintenance choice when the pipe remains serviceable. Recurring clogs deserve investigation, but they do not automatically prove replacement is necessary. The pipe's condition and the cause of the blockage should guide the decision.

What to consider

Cleaning and repair have different purposes. Cleaning removes material that obstructs flow; repair addresses the pipe itself. A recommendation should identify which problem is being treated and whether further assessment is needed after cleaning improves visibility.

Recurring cleaning may be part of a maintenance plan, or it may signal a condition worth investigating. Frequency alone does not identify the cause. Ask for evidence connecting the obstruction to the proposed remedy instead of assuming that repeated clogs mean full replacement.

An independent assessment can help you understand whether maintenance, a localized repair, more extensive work, or monitoring deserves consideration. Compare any repair proposal against those findings and the limitations of what could be inspected.
